150th Anniversary

In 2026, we’re excited to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of West Horsley Methodist Church! This milestone is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together as a community and reflect on our journey over the years. We’ve got a fantastic lineup of events planned throughout the year, each designed to bring joy and connection to all who join us.

Saturday 25th April 7.00 – 9.00pm
Anniversary Songs of Praise: an uplifting evening of singing the favourite hymns you request.

Sunday 26th April 12 noon for 12.30pm
A Celebratory 150th Anniversary Lunch in West Horsley Village Hall. There is no charge – If you would like to attend, please send an email to whmc1876@gmail.com. Or phone 01483-282474.

The lunch follows morning worship at 10am with guest preacher Rev. Conrad Hicks, Chair of the South East District of the Methodist Church.

Morning worship with our own minister Rev. George Quarm. This will be a time to give thanks for his years of ministry in West Horsley before he moves to Essex in August.

Friday 24th July
As part of the WI event – West Horsley Methodist Church will have stalls in the playground beside West Horsley Village Hall, with prizes for children.

Sunday 13th September 10.00am
A short service under the Village Oak tree, replicating where the first Horsley Methodist services took place before the church was built. This will be followed by an ecumenical walk around the village, visiting churches along the way. Everyone can bring a picnic if they wish, or visit the Barley Mow.

Sunday 18th October 10.00am
Harvest Service with guest preacher Rev. Claire Hargreaves.

Sunday 18th October
Harvest afternoon tea in the Wesley Room.

Sunday November 1st 10.00am
Morning worship with guest preacher Matthew Forsyth: Vice Chair of the Methodist Church in England and Ireland. This will be the last of our special services and events in this 150th Anniversary year.
